The New York Jets showed the New England Patriots their hand well before they needed to.

The organization's social media account posted a photo from Gang Green's locker room Thursday evening. No problem, right? Well, the photo essentially confirmed Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley would not play against the Patriots in the Week 3 contest.

The photo captured the lockers of five players, four of whom had jerseys and helmets displayed. Mosley, however, did not have either a helmet of uniform in his stall.

Mosley was questionable entering the contest so it's no huge surprise to learn the veteran defender won't take the field. However, New York didn't need to reveal his status until it was required to announce its inactives list 90 minutes before the game.

The Patriots learned of Mosley's status three hours before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff at MetLife Stadium.
