Maybe Bill Belichick and the Cowboys wouldn't be a match made in heaven like some are making it out to be.
Dallas has been steadily mentioned as a potential landing spot for Belichick, who reportedly wants to return to coaching next season. Mike McCarthy's seat appears to be hot, and Jerry Jones potentially could see Belichick as an ideal replacement. Jones and Belichick go way back, and the latter probably values the rich history and standards in Big D.
Andrew Hawkins believes Belichick should steer clear of the Cowboys, though. The former NFL wide receiver, who had a cup of coffee with the New England Patriots in 2017, can't see the styles of Jones and Belichick meshing well.
"If you put a king in the circus, the circus doesn't look like a palace. The king looks like a clown," Hawkins said Wednesday on ESPN's "Get Up." "The culture in Dallas is not conducive to bring out the best in Bill Belichick or that organization. He (Jones) wants to run the show. He wants to be the one to pick the players. He wants to go in the media and say what he wants because it's his team and none of that works for Bill Belichick. When he (Belichick) was running the organization -- top to bottom -- nobody talked."

Fortunately for Belichick, he might have plenty of options this offseason. The Cowboys hardly are the only "win now" team underperforming thus far this season, and those clubs could allow Belichick to succeed right away if they pursue a coaching change.
Plenty can happen over the next three months. But with the way things are trending, Belichick will have a robust market and won't have to settle for a less-than-ideal situation.
