The New England Patriots have a totally capable defense.

That's been on display since last season when that unit kept a failing offense in several games before falling short in a lost season. Through two games, the Patriots allowed just 17 points per game.

It's a style that complements a run-first offense and will be on display against the New York Jets on Thursday night. That's an area ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes believes New England deserves more respect.

"I don't think they're gonna fall behind," Kimes said on "First Take."

"To me, one of the most slept-on units in the entire NFL is this Patriots defense. They are for real. They have studs at every level. They're so well-coached. I think their simulated pressures are gonna give this Jets' front fits. They are exceptional against the run."

The Jets enter as six-point favorites in a game where points are likely to be at a premium with a pair of quality defenses. That's been the story of this matchup the last two seasons and seems on pace in 2024.
