Mac Jones had a great summer with the Jaguars, so much so that the former Patriots quarterback was widely viewed as a top trade candidate in the event a starting signal-caller went down.
But on Monday night in Buffalo, Jones looked like the QB who New England was very ready to move on from.
In fairness to Jones, he made his Jacksonville regular-season debut in a terrible situation. The winless Jags were having their doors blown off the Bills at Highmark Stadium when the 2021 first-round pick replaced Trevor Lawrence late in the fourth quarter. But Jones made the visitors' horrific night even worse with a terrible-looking strip-sack and an interception gift-wrapped to Damar Hamlin.
Patriots fans unsurprisingly took to social media in droves to poke fun at Jones' brutal showing.

The Foxboro Faithful admittedly does not have the strongest leg to stand on, as its offense also was humiliated in a Week 3 primetime loss. But New England could have a bright future with Drake Maye behind center, while Jones might be a career backup at best.
The Patriots will reunite with their former quarterback Oct. 20 when New England and Jacksonville meet for a Week 7 tilt in London.
