Triston Casas is one of the more unique characters on the Red Sox, and he proved that again after Wednesday night's win.
Boston beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-1, at Tropicana Field to even up the three-game series. Trevor Story tied up the ballgame with a solo home run in the sixth inning, and he scored off a Jarren Duran single in the eighth inning.
Story fought back after shoulder surgery, and it inspired his teammates amid their chase for an American League wild-card spot. Casas revealed how Story fired him up and might have revealed a little bit too much.
"I just try to go with the flow, join the vibe of the team and help us win ball games," Casas said on WEEI. "But I got to remind myself that I missed an offseason's worth of time. It was four months, and that's a lot of time without seeing pitches and getting that contact.

"Even now, there's still a little discomfort with that swing, but it's OK. It's coming down to the wire, a little banged up. But so is Trev. Going in the shower with him, weird enough seeing him naked, seeing that scar on his shoulder fires me up. Everybody's kind of banged up right now and him coming out and finishing the season on a high note, it's really special to see. Everybody here is grinding through something. That was the motivation for me to get back out here."
Fans enjoy getting an inside look at the clubhouse, but what Casas provided Wednesday caught Red Sox supporters off guard. The grind of a 162-game season is real and something outside observers can be sympathetic to, and it also can mean you get revealing quotes from players in the final weeks of the season.
