The Boston Red Sox continued their three-game series with the New York Mets with a 7-2 loss at Citi Field on Tuesday night.
With the loss, Boston fell to 70-69 on the season, while the Mets improved to 75-64 on the campaign.

ONE BIG TAKEAWAY
The Red Sox had the bases loaded with no outs in the top of the eighth inning, trailing the Mets 3-1, but couldn't capitalize and managed to only plate Jarren Duran on a sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Enmanuel Valdez.

Kutter Crawford and Justin Slaten each made one costly mistake by giving up home runs to Francisco Lindor and Mark Vientos, respectively. Crawford gave up the two-run shot to Lindor in the bottom of the third inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead before Nick Sogard knocked in Masataka Yoshida with a single to center in the fifth. Vientos doubled New York's lead with his 22nd dinger of the season.
After allowing the Red Sox to get within a run for the second time in the game, the Mets added four runs in the bottom of the eighth with Chris Martin on the hill for Boston. Martin gave up three hits and two runs before Pete Alonso capped off New York's scoring with a two-run homer.
The Red Sox offense couldn't solve Mets pitching, stranding seven base runners and striking out 15 times in the loss.
