The Boston Celtics took part in the premiere season of Netflix’s “Starting 5” series, with Jayson Tatum representing the franchise among other NBA stars.
Netflix will produce a second season of the series which will also feature a Celtics star as cameras follow Jaylen Brown. The 2024 Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals MVP accepted the coverage along with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tyrese Haliburton.
This season marks the right time to follow Brown, who got snubbed from filling a spot on Team USA at the Olympics just weeks after a brilliant postseason run to deliver Banner 18 for the Celtics. That puts a motivated Brown back into the lineup for the Celtics with plenty to prove in the chase for back-to-back championships and cemented respect around the basketball world.
Brown averaged 26 points and 7.8 rebounds through the first four games of the season. He tallied his first 30-point performance of the season on 10-of-19 shooting in Boston’s win at home over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Brown and Tatum return to leading roles for the start of the season alongside Derrick White and Jrue Holiday as the Celtics play without Kristaps Porzingis, who looks to return from injury mid-season.
Season 1 of “Starting 5” is currently available on Netflix.
