Bill Belichick is no stranger to dunking on the New York Jets between his short tenure as their head coach to beating up on them for two decades with the New England Patriots.
The media world smashed the Jets throughout Monday after New York’s rough 25-22 loss to the Patriots that moved both teams to 2-6. That’s disastrous for the Jets, who hoped Aaron Rodgers’ return would validate their Super Bowl aspirations. Instead, New England delivered the latest disappointment for New York.
“It was a great job by Jacoby and the Patriots there at the end,” Belichick shared on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Monday. “Stevenson had a big game. Tough day for the Jets. Used all their timeouts in the first quarter, missed PAT. … Just a lot of mistakes by the Jets. That ended up killing them in the end.”
Belichick criticized edge rusher Hasson Reddick for overplaying pass-rush lanes that allowed New England quarterbacks to scramble with space. The addition of Reddick along with trading for star wideout Davante Adams still hasn’t led to a win yet for the Jets, further amplifying the failures of this season.
“It starts at the top and Woody Johnson started pulling levers,” Belichick added. “They fired Saleh, which I don’t understand that. … It seems like a lot of moves by Woody, I don’t really understand how they add up.”

Belichick embraced the moment to tear the Jets again, sporting a few old game balls from his Patriots days during his weekly spot on McAfee’s program.
“I had a few Jet balls up on the shelf, so thought this would be a good time to pull them out.” Belichick added.
The Patriots visit the Tennessee Titans in Week 9 while the Jets host the Houston Texans on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.
