The Bruins made a roster addition ahead of their penultimate preseason matchup Thursday.
General manager Don Sweeney announced in a press release that Boston recalled Fabian Lysell from Providence. The top prospect was cut from the training camp roster Sunday, but Sweeney and head coach Jim Montgomery noted the evaluation process was not over.
"We had Fabian in situations in camp where he got reps with different players," Sweeney told reporters Monday at the team's season-opener news conference. "... Everybody sees the skill set that Fabian has, and we're excited about it. Now, we continue to allow him to fill the gaps in terms of building a team game that (Montgomery) feels is a big part of what the Bruins to have success is, and all young players go through that process. But he'll get another opportunity, and hopefully, he takes advantage of it."
Lysell had one goal and four shots on goal in three preseason games.

Thursday's transaction came one day after the Bruins claimed goalie Jiri Patera off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks amid the team's contract negotiations with Jeremy Swayman.
Boston plays the Los Angeles Kings at Quebec City before finishing preseason action Saturday against the Washington Capitals. Puck drop for the Kings matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
