BOSTON — The past and present were on hand for the Boston Celtics when they raised a championship banner to the TD Garden rafters Tuesday night.

Several Celtics legends were in attendance, including the “Big Three” from Boston’s last title team. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen brought out the 2024 Larry O’Brien Trophy at the beginning of the pregame ceremony.

But the highlight of former players being in attendance for the festivities was Bob Cousy. The 96-year-old and six-time NBA champion with the Celtics got a rousing ovation from the hometown crowd when he came out onto the famed parquet in a wheelchair. Cousy remains deeply attached to the franchise and was even outspoken about the Celtics during their title run last season.

Cousy along with Garnett, Pierce and All all got together for a photo prior to the game.

The celebratory night didn’t just bring out Celtics icons. NBA commissioner Adam Silver was in the arena to hand out the championship rings to the team’s coaching staff and players.
