Former Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark was caught in the crosshairs of a wild end of a Senators win.

Ottawa was up 7-1 over the Blues in the final minutes of the third period Tuesday night. A brawl broke out in front of Jordan Binnington’s net, so the St. Louis goalie took it upon himself to grab Brady Tkachuk out of a scrum. The officials separated the netminder away from the Senators star, and Binnington skated to center ice and challenged Ullmark. The former Bruin didn’t oblige as the Sens closed out with an 8-1 win at Canadian Tire Centre.

Ullmark doesn’t have a reputation for fighting, but Boston fans might remember the 31-year-old tried to get into it with Matthew Tkachuk in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs. The veteran didn’t get his wish then, and he explained why he didn’t respond to Binnington’s challenge.

“No, it’s just all an act, and we’re up 7-1 at that point. It’s not necessary for me to go down there,” Ullmark told reporters, per the Senators. “He just stood up for his guys and held off one of our best fighters as well. I’m pretty sure that Brady can take care of himself.”

Ullmark reiterated that he didn’t think it was necessary for him to step up but stated he would stick up for his teammates. He also claimed Binnington simply “shrugged his shoulders” and he merely was taking care of his own business when explaining the interaction near center ice.
