DeMario Douglas and Ja'Lynn Polk were targeted a total of 10 times in the Patriots' blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The duo caught six passes for a combined 43 yards.

They both showed their frustration on the field during the game, and Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo took issue with their antics.

"One thing I would say as a team, we don't want to show or voice our frustrations on the field like that as visible to everyone," Mayo told reporters on Wednesday, per team-provided transcript. "I will say, look, it's good to have guys that want to go out there and make plays, guys that want to go out there and compete. It's a natural human instinct to be frustrated when things aren't going your way."

Mayo added: "Things aren't going our way as a team right now, and am I frustrated? Absolutely. But I understand that we have a lot of work to do. It's the first quarter of the season. Now, we're going into the second quarter of the season, and hopefully we're getting better."

This is not the first time Douglas has expressed his frustration with the offensive play calls. The Patriots wideout vocalized his dissatisfaction after not receiving a target in New England's Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Speaking your frustrations and having a tantrum on the field are two different things, and Douglas understands Sunday was not a good look.

"I don't know what got into me. That's not me," Douglas said, per MassLive's Karen Guregian. "I felt bad as soon as I watched it. That was poor by me, how I was on the field. But my team got my back, and I definitely got theirs. It's just my love of the game. And I love winning."

The Patriots will host the 1-3 Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The winner of the divisional clash will move out of the cellar in the AFC East.
