The Lions throttled the Cowboys on Sunday, but Detroit didn’t leave Dallas riding too high.

That’s because Dan Campell’s side saw one of its best players go down in gruesome fashion. Minutes into the second half at AT&T Stadium, Aidan Hutchinson sustained a nasty-looking leg injury and needed to be carted off the field. Hutchinson appeared to instantly understand the severity of the injury and players on both teams were visibly shaken up while the star pass-rusher received medical attention.

After the Week 6 contest, Campbell informed reporters that Hutchinson sustained a broken tibia, which will sideline the 24-year-old for the rest of the season. However, Hutchinson’s road to recovery might not be too treacherous.

“While Aidan Hutchinson’s broken tibia is obviously season-ending, the early prognosis is that being ready for 2025 shouldn’t be an issue,” NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport posted to X on Sunday night. “All things considered, that’s good news.”

Hutchinson was building a very strong case for Defensive Player of the Year consideration before going down. He currently leads the league in sacks (7.5) to go along with 19 total tackles and one forced fumble.

Fortunately for the Lions, they figure to remain among the NFL’s most legitimate Super Bowl LIX contenders even in Hutchinson’s absence. Detroit has a chance to claim the top spot in the NFC standings Sunday when it visits the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings.
