Patriots rookie wide receiver Javon Baker was inactive for a fourth time in seven games when New England faced the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium last Sunday.
Baker was questionable entering the contest due to an illness. But it seems the illness wasn’t the only reason Baker was scratched from the gameday roster, as reported by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
“Baker had a ‘hiccup’ in London last week when it came to following at least one part of the team’s itinerary, according to a team source, and was inactive for a third straight game,” Reiss wrote in a column published Sunday.
Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt previously said Baker needed to build trust with the coaching staff.
“For Javon, it’s really the details: lining up correctly, running the right routes, earning the trust of the coaching staff and the quarterback, as well,” Van Pelt told reporters earlier this month.

Instances like that across the pond certainly don’t help Baker’s case.
The fourth-round rookie played six offensive snaps in the first seven games, all of which were in the Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
