Christian Barmore was out to start the 2024 NFL season, but the Patriots defensive star still ran into an incident early Wednesday morning.
The New England defensive tackle was diagnosed with blood clots before the season and slowly made strides through the first six weeks of the season to rejoin the team. His social media activity was of particular interest to fans when he posted hourglass emojis. However, he posted an alarming allegation this week.
“I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at it’s finest,” Barmore posted on X.
Barmore’s social media post was made at 1:22 a.m. ET. It’s not clear where in Providence the alleged racist incident took place nor was it made clear what exactly happened. Providence police had multiple incidents of officers making racist remarks or being part of racial profiling scandals. A former recruit also sued the Providence Police Department over racial harassment claims in 2020.
This didn’t mark the first time a member of the Patriots had some run-in with the law. Rookie Javon Baker filmed himself on Instagram live in September criticizing a police officer for pulling him over for a traffic violation. Head coach Jerod Mayo highlighted New England’s respect for law enforcement, and the wide receiver was internally punished for the incident.

Jabrill Peppers last week was arrested and charged with assault and battery charges. The safety’s case remains pending in court, and he was placed on the NFL’s commissioner exempt list. Owner Robert Kraft issued a strong statement about Peppers’ alleged charges and the team’s stance on domestic violence.
As for Barmore, he remains on the reserve/non-football injury list, and it’s unknown as of Wednesday morning if there will be any follow-up to what he allegedly saw.
