The Patriots reached a new low Sunday.
New England dropped its sixth consecutive game, falling to the equally-as-bad Jacksonville Jaguars in a game where it took control early before proceeding to give the game away with an abhorrent performance in the final three quarters.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo didn’t exactly go scorched earth following the loss, but sent a clear message by calling the club “soft” in his postgame media availability. New England had a pair of defenders relay similar messages, with defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale calling out teammates for their selfishness, and veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones sending a message to the team in the locker room.
“Jon Jones gave a speech after the game, saying, ‘You’ve got to find it. We have to find something.'” Patriots quarterback Drake Maye said, per team-provided video. “What we’re doing is not good enough. We’ve got to man up.”
New England has sent similar messages in recent weeks, but none of it will matter until there’s actual change.
