Mookie Betts is just two wins away from winning his third World Series championship after the Los Angeles Dodgers took a 2-0 series lead against the New York Yankees. He knows plenty about beating that team in October after Betts and the Boston Red Sox eliminated the Yankees in three games in the 2018 American League Division Series.
While he may not be a part of that rivalry anymore, Betts still knows how to have fun after wins over New York.
Betts crashed an interview on the MLB on FOX set after Game 2 to greet former Red Sox teammate David Ortiz and take a chance to playfully jab at Yankees legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.
“I know you don’t like us right now, but I love you too,” Betts joked with them.
Betts is off to a solid start after his sacrificed fly tied the score in Game 1. He hit .276 to start the World Series while Red Sox fans watched Aaron Judge take national criticism for his postseason struggles. Those got further amplified with the tall slugger striking out six times already in this Fall Classic. The Yankees now return home with a deficit to climb out of in search of their first championship in 15 years.
