FOXBORO, Mass. — The throw was perfect from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and the result was his first career touchdown pass in the NFL.
Maye uncorked a deep ball along the sideline and hit Kayshon Boutte in stride for a 40-yard score with 11 seconds remaining in the first half against the Houston Texans. The strike from the rookie signal-caller capped a five-play, 84-yard scoring drive and cut Houston’s lead to 14-7.

Maye was touted for his strong arm and deep-ball ability coming out of North Carolina and he sure showed it on the pass to Boutte. It was also the first touchdown for Boutte of his NFL career.
The dime from Maye certainly was the highlight of his first half. He spent much of the first 30 minutes under constant pressure and hurried in the pocket.

Maye completed 8-of-14 passes for 105 yards with one touchdown and one interception, which came on his third pass of the game, heading into the break. He was also sacked twice in the first half.
