Jerod Mayo’s tenure with the Patriots got off to a rocky start, but New England proved it’s not a team which has given up on its head coach.

The Chicago Bears, however, can’t say the same.

During the latest episode of NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast, NESN’s George Balekji and Travis Thomas unpacked New England’s 19-3 win at Soldier Field on Sunday. And Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, who remains at the helm Monday afternoon, was a topic of conversation.

“Look, I took away that Jerod Mayo is not the worst coach in the NFL,” Thomas said. “The worst coach in the NFL coaches the Bears. And that team has quit on that coach.”

Mayo’s players and coaching staff delivered its most complete performance of the season in the Windy City.

“I learned a lot about Jerod Mayo as a coach in this game, to be honest with you,” Thomas continued. “I thought the Patriots came out high energy, on the road. That should be a tough game for them.

“… But clearly this team believes in their head coach. They have not quit on Jerod Mayo. They are playing hard for him. And that game is evidence of that.”
