The Bruins added a forward to the active roster Thursday.

General manager Don Sweeney announced in a press release that Boston recalled forward Patrick Brown from Providence. Brown’s call-up came after defenseman Jordan Oesterle was recalled following Hampus Lindholm’s week-to-week injury.

Brown was named the 27th captain of the P-Bruins this season. The NHL veteran embraced the opportunity to help out the younger players while also remaining prepared for a call-up.

The 32-year-old appeared in 12 games for Providence this season recording three goals and four assists for seven points. He’s skated in 149 career NHL games falling 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points. Brown was relied upon for spot call-ups last season and will be relied upon for depth.

Boston plays the Stars at American Airlines Center on Thursday, but Brown is not expected to start. Puck drop for the matchup against Dallas is scheduled at 8 p.m. ET, and you can catch full coverage on NESN starting at 7 p.m.
