The Bruins made a change to their coaching staff Tuesday, and another one could be on the horizon.

Boston relieved Jim Montgomery of his head-coaching duties one day after the club’s lopsided loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at TD Garden. Joe Sacco, who has been with the Bruins organization since 2014, was named interim head coach.

Don Sweeney believed Sacco is “well-equipped” to handle the role, but the Bruins general manager could see the club adding onto the staff to make the Medford, Mass. native’s life a little easier.

“The staff will be as it is for right now, but I don’t rule out that we won’t bring in someone to complement this group,” Sweeney told reporters, per a team-provided video.

The Bruins will play their first game under Sacco on Thursday when the Black and Gold welcome the Utah Hockey Club to TD Garden.
