BOSTON — Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr got the warm welcome he expected from Boston Celtics fans Wednesday night at TD Garden.
Kerr was met with a very loud chorus of boos from the Celtics when he was introduced prior to the opening tip. Celtics public address announcer Eddie Palladino even seemed to wait a beat after introducing Stephen Curry to make sure the crowd had a chance to unleash its fury onto Kerr.

Kerr didn’t seem to have much of a reaction to the boo-birds, but did raise his arm up to acknowledge the crowd at one point.
The animosity from Celtics fans toward Kerr came about due to his handling of Celtics star Jayson Tatum in the 2024 Summer Olympics. Kerr, who was the head coach for Team USA, surprisingly benched Tatum twice over the six-game tournament.

Kerr, who reiterated prior to the contest that he didn’t regret how things played out with Tatum, was met with immediate backlash for his decision and Wednesday offered Celtics fans their first chance to voice their disapproval.
They sure did that in a loud way.
