Triston Casas entered 20224 with expectations for a big season for the Boston Red Sox. He finished third in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2023 after a monstrous second half.

Unfortunately for Casas, he suffered a rib injury in April in Pittsburgh that sidelined him for 98 games. The Red Sox never put together enough of a consistent stretch during the campaign and missed the playoffs with an 81-81 record.

ESPN’s David Schoenfield originally predicted that Casas would start the All-Star Game in a season with 35 home runs for a Red Sox team. Obviously because of the injury, none of that happened. But why can’t it come true in 2025?

A full season of Casas will be a power showcase and he’s definitely worth a few games that made the difference in the Red Sox missing the postseason. He’s not the leading cause of why that happened, but he can be the final push if he stays healthy for Boston in 2025.

“I still believe there’s 35-homer potential here, and while fellow first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. bounced back with a big season, Casas has All-Star potential in what is a weak position in the AL,” Schoenfield added.
