The Indiana Fever named Stephanie White their new head coach.
White was head coach of the Connecticut Sun for two seasons. She took them to the semifinals in her two seasons but fell short in each run. White is an Indiana native and returned to the Fever after coaching them from 2015-16; Indiana made the WNBA Finals her first season and lost to the Minnesota Lynx.
“I am incredibly proud and honored to return home to Indiana and lead the Fever during such a pivotal moment in this franchise’s history, as well as during such an important time throughout women’s athletics,” White said in a press release. “This franchise has and always will be committed to winning and I look forward to working every day to help deliver another WNBA title to the greatest basketball fans in the world.”
The Fever finished 20-20 last season and were eliminated in the first round by the Sun. Christie Sides was fired as head coach following her team’s exit after two seasons on the sideline.
Caitlin Clark immediately led Indiana to success helping it finish third in offense. However, the Fever also was 11th in defense, which White could help improve. The 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year helped make Connecticut one of the best defensive teams in the league, and her experience will be relied upon as Clark enters her second season.

Connecticut did not renew White’s contract after the 2024 season and will seek a replacement along with multiple other WNBA teams.
