The Fleet prepare for their second season this week, and they’ve already seen the enthusiasm from PWHL fans.

Boston holds training camp this week before heading off to Montréal and Toronto next week for preseason minicamps. The Fleet also had a media day Tuesday to prepare for the upcoming season.

Head coach Courtney Kessel and general manager Danielle Marmer expressed their excitement to get back on the ice after falling short in the Walter Cup Finals. Crowds at Tsongas Center increased throughout Boston’s playoff chase and run to the final and more could welcome the team to start the season.

Marmer confirmed in a Zoom conference call that PWHL ticket sales were up year-over-year, and Boston’s season tickets leaped from about 600 last season to around 1,500 this season.

Those increased sales came on the same year the Fleet and the other PWHL franchises released their team nicknames, logos and new jerseys. It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the increased enthusiasm for Boston was because of the team’s new identity that fans can rally around.

That should be on display when the Fleet begin the season on Nov. 30 and play their home opener on Dec. 4.
