Jerod Mayo References Red Sox When Asked About Drake Maye Critique

Drake Maye excites the Patriots with his dynamic abilities with his legs. With that said, as New England has an obligation to protect their franchise quarterback, Maye needs to be better about taking measures to protect himself.

That should primarily come by sliding in the open field to avoid extra contact and unnecessary collisions with oncoming defenders. His aggression with the ball in his hands is great for the Patriots. He just needs to be a little more careful.

Head coach Jerod Mayo is well aware of that and plans accordingly for upcoming practices.

“We have a sliding period today in practice,” Mayo told reporters Wednesday, per team-provided video. “Get somebody from the Red Sox to come in.”
