The Patriots didn’t move receiver Tyquan Thornton before last Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, but that doesn’t mean they’ll start using him more.

Thornton was a healthy scratch from New England’s trip to Chicago on Sunday. The 2022 second-round pick also was scratched from last week’s road game against the Tennessee Titans, but unlike fellow underperforming wideout K.J. Osborn, Thornton will not be available for the Patriots against the Bears.

Defensive tackle Eric Johnson and offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson joined Thornton as New England’s healthy scratches for Week 10. Team captain and star safety Kyle Dugger (ankle) and versatile linebacker Christian Elliss (abdomen) also won’t play against the Bears, but they are dealing with injuries.

Veteran defensive lineman Yannick Ngakoue, meanwhile, will spend the weekend learning the Patriots’ playbook after New England claimed him off waivers Friday.
