Osborn is a prime trade candidate
The Patriots might not obtain a huge return, but it appears there are suitors for wide receiver K.J. Osborn.
New England appears primed to move on from the veteran wideout prior to Tuesday’s trade deadline, with Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reporting the 27-year-old “has been involved in trade talks” over the past couple of weeks and is a target for a few teams.
Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi reported the Los Angeles Chargers were among those teams.
Osborn has been a relative non-factor since joining New England on a one-year pact this offseason, hauling in just seven catches across six games. The Patriots went as far as to make him a healthy scratch in Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans, which had been a point of contention earlier in the season.
New England would do right by moving on from the veteran, giving him an opportunity to catch on elsewhere while also opening up reps for younger players on its roster. Osborn could also fetch a decent return if recent trades are any indication, with multiple receiver-needy teams (LA, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers) left looking for help.
