Patriots Legend Dumps Cold Water On Bill Belichick Misconception

Matt Light played 11 seasons for the Patriots

Matt Light had a one-of-a-kind personality during his 11 years in the NFL with the New England Patriots. He backed that up as one of the few players to ever truly push Bill Belichick’s buttons over the years.

Light had a number of legendary pranks on the Super Bowl winning head coach and shared several of them on Julian Edelman’s “Games With Names” podcast. Despite the level of courage needed to mess with Belichick, Light always knew where the line was with the Patriots.

“Since he and I never had a conversation about any of these, it would be fun to get his perspective on these,” Light told NESN.com Friday at the Pedro Martinez Foundation gala. “I thought they were all hilarious. They were great. I did feel many times, I think my wife reminded me that I’m probably going to get fired at some point. That never happened.”

Belichick’s tenure at times brought reports of toxic environments under his tenure. Winning solves a lot of those problems and Light confirmed an enjoyable tenure with a trio of championship rings with the Patriots.

“Despite what it looked like from the outside, we actually had a lot of fun,” Light added.
