Red Sox Rumors: Boston ‘Adamant’ About Making This Big Move

The Red Sox don’t appear to be messing around this Major League Baseball offseason.

Few teams have been involved in more marquee free agency reports than Boston. The storied franchise reportedly is very much engaged in the Juan Soto sweepstakes and appears open to spending big to address its other pressing needs, most notably starting pitching.

Those strong pushes aren’t being kept under wraps either. Trusted MLB insiders continue to report on the Red Sox’s aggressive approach to the offseason, which also was confirmed by team president and CEO Sam Kennedy. The end result might not be Soto, but Boston fans reportedly still can expect fireworks.

“This is why they met with Soto, told everyone how well it went, and informed agents that they not only want to sign one of the marquee free-agent pitchers in Corbin Burnes, Max Fried and Blake Snell, but actually want to sign two,” USA Today’s Bob Nightengale wrote in a column published Monday. “They are adamant on signing at least one lefty between Fried and Snell.”

Nightengale hardly was the first MLB insider to report on the Red Sox’s interest in both Snell and Fried. Either southpaw immediately would become Boston’s ace, while adding both would give the club one of the best rotations in the American League.

Of course, the Red Sox aren’t the only team looking to improve their starting pitching this offseason. But several indications suggest Boston won’t come away from the starter bonanza empty-handed.
