Celtics fans didn’t care for how Steve Kerr utilized Jayson Tatum in the Olympics, and the Warriors head coach seemed ready for what the TD Garden crowd would bring.
Tatum was one of three Celtics players selected to play in the 2024 Paris Games. However, he didn’t play in the two Serbia matchups, and fans felt the All-NBA star was disrespected due to his lack of usage in Team USA’s gold medal run.
Kerr is no stranger to raucous crowds, and he played it cool when looking ahead to Golden State’s matchup against Boston on Wednesday.
“I’m excited,” Kerr said in his KNBR appearance Tuesday. “I think the fans are really going to cheer for me because you know what I did over this past summer? I played Jrue Holiday and Derrick White a ton given that both guys are Celtics. And the fact that Tatum also played a huge role in the proceedings, all three guys major factors. We won the gold medal. This is America. It’s the day after Election Day. I think Celtics fans are going to welcome me with open arms. Maybe even like bouquets of roses.”
Kerr continued to joke and said he was expecting a “warm embrace” and a “heartfelt” response from Green Teamers.
