Jonathan Jones started Week 10 surrounded by a possibility — albeit small — that he wasn’t going to play another game for the Patriots.
However, the veteran defensive back ended the week by taking center stage after an impressive New England win.
Jones, who was the subject of many trade rumors leading up to last Tuesday’s deadline, contributed to the Patriots’ tremendous defensive effort at Soldier Field on Sunday. New England significantly out-toughed Chicago and muscled its way to a 19-3 win over the reeling Bears.
After head coach Jerod Mayo passed out a pair of meaningful game balls in the locker room, Jones took the floor and delivered a message to the team.
“Coach said it — it’s playing complementary football. All three phases: offense, defense, special teams,” Jones said, per a team-provided video. “It ain’t no special victory how you win in this league. It’s simple: sticking together and playing complementary football. We keep doing that, put our head down, and we’re going to go some places. Hey, stack some wins. Stack some wins.”

Jones and company now have their fair share of momentum heading back to Foxboro, Mass., where they’re set to play their first home game since Oct. 27. The Patriots on Sunday will host Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams, who will be playing on short rest after battling the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
