FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez might have played his final snap of the 2024 season.

Gonzalez was ruled out after he suffered a first-half concussion against the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. Gonzalez was injured on the third play of the second quarter after Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert found wideout Ladd McConkey, whom Gonzalez hit.

The second-year cornerback walked off the field, into the blue medical tent and was ruled out shortly after.

The 2023 first-round cornerback has been arguably New England’s best player this season. Gonzalez consistently held opposing wideouts well under their typical production, despite the overall struggles of the Patriots defense.

Given there’s one game remaining in the campaign, and where the Patriots stand, it’s fair to believe Gonzalez’s strong sophomore season could be over.

Drake Maye, who also went through concussion protocol against the Chargers, cleared the league’s protocol and returned against the Bolts.
