Dara Torres knows how special this athletic community is
BOSTON — Dara Torres understands energizing environments as an athlete with an incredibly decorated swimming career. She earned 12 Olympic medals throughout her career and continues to impact the sport as the head coach at Boston College.
Torres discussed the next step of her swimming life before being honored at “The Tradition” in November and the supportive environment of Boston College athletics in the midst of a busy season.
“The team’s great,” Torres told reporters before “The Tradition” on Nov. 20 at TD Garden. “The thing about Boston College is it’s a little under 10,000 undergrad (students). It really feels like when you have the sporting events like the hockey games, lacrosse, all the different events that are going on, it feels like a big school. You have the small family sort of vibe, but you have the big-school vibe when it comes to sports. It’s been really cool. The athletic department and the school really take care of the athletes. They’ve been very welcoming. It’s been a lot of fun.”
The BC diving team continues on throughout their season with eyes on the ACC Championship meet in February.
“The Tradition” airs Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. ET on NESN.
