There was a frightening scene early in the third quarter of Sunday’s Dolphins-Texans game at NRG Stadium.

A little over five minutes into the second half of the Week 15 matchup, Miami wide receiver Grant DuBose took a brutal hit from Houston safety Calen Bullock near midfield. DuBose immediately required medical attention on the turf and the game was paused for roughly 12 minutes while the 23-year-old was looked at by professionals.

DuBose’s jersey was cut off, and his facemask unscrewed before he left the field on a stretcher. Shortly thereafter, the Dolphins issued a statement on their social media channels.

“Dolphins WR Grant DuBose has been ruled out with a head injury,” the post on X read. “He is in stable condition and being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.”

DuBose was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Packers and spent the majority of his rookie season on Green Bay’s practice squad. Miami claimed the Charlotte product on waivers in late August and rostered him for two of its first 13 games this season.
