One way or another, it sure seems like the Red Sox are going to make some noise this MLB offseason.
Boston certainly is not moving in silence. There seemingly is a new report every day about the Red Sox’s pursuit of Juan Soto and the club appears to be a major player in the starting pitching market. Team brass also has been outspoken about taking an aggressive approach to addressing major needs.
Thus, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden views the Red Sox as the “most intriguing team to watch this winter.”
“The Red Sox have been all-in this offseason, kicking the tires on almost every high-end free agent,” Bowden wrote. “They seem more committed to the starting pitching side of the market and are playing on Corbin Burnes, Max Fried and Roki Sasaki — and I won’t be surprised if they land two of them.”
As for Soto, Boston reportedly is gaining momentum in the race to sign the superstar outfielder. But even if the Red Sox don’t land the most coveted free agent, Bowden believes Craig Breslow and company could target another high-impact bat like Teoscar Hernández or Anthony Santander.

All told, Boston figures to be much improved in 2025.
