The Boston Bruins stayed hot and defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 Wednesday night at United Center.

Boston’s offense which struggled mightily in the first month of the season appears to be in a rhythm. The Bruins have averaged four goals per contest over their last five games after a home shutout loss at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks.

The Bruins lit the lamp consistently Wednesday night behind a pair of multi-goal scorers. Morgan Geekie got the scoring started in the first period and netted another on a breakaway early in the third period. Geekie also became the seventh Bruins player this season to tally a multi-goal game.

Elsewhere, Boston captain Brad Marchand scored two goals in a more “outspoken” fashion.

Marchand continued a recent ongoing bit with TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette that featured a challenge to tally two points and a power play goal Wednesday night. The power play score never came but Marchand needed just two minutes and five seconds in the second period to give the Bruins the lead and some insurance.

That performance marked Marchand’s second multi-goal performance in eight days. It appears the Bruins have found a rhythm under Joe Sacco, moving to 6-2 since the interim coach took over for Jim Montgomery. Wednesday also locked in a three-game winning streak for the Black and Gold for a far different tune than the early weeks of the season.

Boston is undefeated to start the month of December in a calendar stretch that could rewrite the narrative of the potential of this Bruins team after a frustrating start. It’s a small sample size, but the Bruins look sharp to begin the month.
