New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo wanted to get more playing time for his team’s rookies over the final four games of the season.

But two first-year players won’t see the field at all Sunday for New England’s Week 15 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Patriots ruled out both wide receiver Javon Baker (concussion) and offensive tackle Caedan Wallace (ankle), who had his practice window opened this week after landing on injured reserve with an ankle injury. It will be the 10th straight game missed for Wallace, a third-round pick. Defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy also won’t play and he got tougher news with the Patriots placing him on IR, which effectively ends his season, due to a foot injury.

The Patriots also had several notable players questionable for the contest, including Christian Barmore, Kyle Dugger, Christian Gonzalez and Cole Strange — all four were limited participants in Friday’s practice. Strange could make his season debut after being out since last December due to a torn patellar tendon.

The Cardinals aren’t as banged up as the Patriots. They also ruled three players out, but only listed two players as questionable as Arizona looks to stay in the playoff hunt.
