Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has a problem communicating.

It’s something we’ve seen throughout the season, as his insistence on being honest has led to retractions and clarifications on a near-weekly basis. New England has seen it do more bad than good, and these gaffes have started to extend into the locker room.

Keion White, for instance, clearly has an issue with how things are going down at One Patriot Place and shared some eye-opening thoughts earlier this week.

Mayo’s response?

“I had a great conversation with him yesterday. …The way he said it isn’t the way he meant it.” Mayo said on Saturday, per 98.5 The Sports Hub. “We’re on a good page.”

White didn’t get that message, because he doubled down following a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.

“If changes aren’t made, then what are we doing?” White told reporters, echoing similar sentiments as earlier in the week. “The NFL is a production-based business so if we’re not doing anything to change our production, which is loss, what are we doing?”

Mayo clearly can’t effectively communicate with his players, which is an extension of what we’ve seen through his media availabilities. If he can’t do that, then what exactly is his value in New England?
