The Patriots reportedly parted ways with a disgruntled veteran wide receiver Tuesday.
According to multiple reports, New England waived wideout K.J. Osborn. The reported move was mutual as the 27-year-old seeks a new team in the final weeks of the regular season.
Osborn signed with the Patriots last offseason on a one-year deal. The fifth-year wide receiver was expected to be a veteran presence for a young roster. However, he led the way for rumored locker room turmoil.
The 2020 fifth-round pick wasn’t afraid to take to social media to voice his inferred frustrations over his role or lack thereof in New England’s offense. The former Minnesota Vikings wideout drew interest before the NFL trade deadline. Despite receiving calls for Osborn, Eliot Wolf and his staff didn’t pull the trigger on a deal. It was expected Osborn would get his release in early November, but he had to wait a month to finally receive it.
Osborn finished his Patriots career with seven receptions off 18 targets for 57 yards and one touchdown. He played in seven games and was inactive since Week 10.
