The dream is still alive.

Juan Soto started to eliminate teams from contention, as revealed by agent Scott Boras, but the Boston Red Sox reportedly are not one of those teams.

“According to major league sources, the Sox are not among the teams who have been eliminated,” The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier wrote Wednesday afternoon. “Instead, they remain in the hunt for the 26-year-old…”

It likely means the Red Sox offered Soto more than $600 million given that’s the offer “all remaining contenders have made,” per The Athletic.

Soto also garnered interest from the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. While some poured cold water on the Bronx Bombers, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand believes the New York ballclubs still remain the front-runners for Soto.

Rumors have swirled that Soto will make his decision before or during the MLB Winter Meetings next week, but Boras said he didn’t believe anything was imminent.
