There is no sugarcoating the fact that the New England Patriots are not a good football team.
Sure, there are areas of the game that New England has improved upon since Jerod Mayo made the decision to replace Jacoby Brissett with Drake Maye under center. However, the first-year coach is making more mistakes on the sidelines than his rookie quarterback on the field.
That’s just one of the many reasons why NESN’s Travis Thomas believes the Patriots should cut their losses and move on from Mayo instead of keeping him at the helm for a second season.
“Look, I’m a broken record, I guess,” Thomas said on the latest “Boston Has Entered The Chat” episode. “The guy’s in over his skis. He shouldn’t have been hired for this job without having a little, I almost wish Bob Kraft brought him in, in a different capacity, and let him learn on the gig.”
Thomas continued: “From your defense collapsing at the end of games, literally looking gassed yet again, to you putting your foot in your mouth damn near weekly, it feels like around here, to you just not being able to adjust in-game and make critical adjustments.

“… I think this team’s gonna lose out the rest of the year, and I think that will help usher the Jerod Mayo era out.”
