FOXBORO, Mass. — Jerod Mayo will not return to the Patriots, but executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf apparently will not be dealt the same fate.
The Athletic’s Chad Graff was the first to report on Wolf’s standing, doing so shortly after the Patriots announced Mayo’s firing Sunday evening.
“The early indications are that Wolf will remain with the Patriots, according to a team source,” Graff wrote for The Athletic.
The Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan reported the same.
“Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf is expected to remain in his current role while the franchise moves on from recently fired head coach Jerod Mayo, according to a source,” Callahan wrote.

Mayo was fired Sunday evening after the Patriots concluded their season with a 4-13 record. The lack of on-field success was not the only underwhelming aspect of the season, however.
A separate report from the Boston Herald spoke to those inside the organization, who described a poor culture with a lack of leadership.
