Ben Johnson, one of the top coaching candidates this offseason, has received another request.
The Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday requested permission to speak with the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator for their head coaching position, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Said request doesn’t confirm Johnson will interview for the job, though, as he can be selective.
Jacksonville fired Doug Pederson on Monday following his three-year tenure.

The New England Patriots and Chicago Bears already lined up interviews with Johnson, who is viewed alongside Mike Vrabel as the top candidate available. The Patriots reportedly will interview Vrabel, as well.
New England fired first-year head coach Jerod Mayo on Sunday evening after clear on-field regression, according to owner Robert Kraft.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported the Lions gave Johnson a window from Thursday afternoon through Saturday to do head coaching interviews, all of which have to be virtual.
