The Raiders made a big change this week and will be in the same market as the New England Patriots.
Las Vegas fired head coach Antonio Pierce after one full season. The decision could affect New England since Tom Brady is expected to play a role in the head-coaching search.
The Raiders got that process going Wednesday after requesting to interview Detriot Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. Las Vegas also is expected to be interested in Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
New England reportedly is expected to interview Johnson virtually sometime Thursday-Saturday. The Patriots aren’t linked to Glenn or Flores, but the latter did say he’d be open to the position if he were brought in for an interview.
The Patriots also reportedly are expected to interview Mike Vrabel. It’s unknown if Las Vegas also is interested in the former Tennesee Titans head coach. However, if Brady does influence the search, it wouldn’t be surprising if Vrabel also was on the Raiders’ shortlist.
