The Patriots have placed a ton of responsibility on the shoulders of Josh McDaniels.
McDaniels is back for his third stint with the franchise and will be tasked with getting the best out of yet another young quarterback. Tom Brady, Matt Cassell, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett, Cam Newton and Mac Jones all found varying levels of success under his tutelage, and New England is hoping Drake Maye will not only be next but the (second) biggest success story of the bunch.
NESN’s George Balekji was joined by Chris Hogan on Wednesday’s episode of “Foxboro Rush” to talk about that partnership.
Hogan, who won a pair of Super Bowls during his three-year tenure in New England, talked about his experience working alongside McDaniels and believes there’s no reason to worry about how he’ll work with Maye.
“Josh and Drake are going to get along great,” Hogan said. “Drake seems like a very bright, talented, young quarterback. I think he’ll be eager to work with Josh — and how could you not? Josh worked with Tom Brady for almost two decades, and this is the greatest quarterback of all time. …Josh is going to have to adapt to how Drake learns, and how quickly he’ll be able to digest the information that’s being thrown at him. I think Josh will do a good job of challenging Drake.”
