The Patriots might make changes to the coaching staff but perhaps not in the way fans initially believe.
Head coach Jerod Mayo and his staff might be fighting for their jobs this Sunday if reports are to be believed. There’s been mixed reporting regarding whether or not New England will make changes to the staff after another horrible season. A change that could happen is members of the coaching staff getting poached by Bill Belichick, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones on Saturday.
“And speaking of the former coach, there’s expected to be some attrition from New England to Chapel Hill, with Belichick potentially pulling from the coaching staff as well as from the training, strength and personnel staffs,” Jones wrote.
Safeties coach Brian Belichick and cornerbacks coach Mike Pellegrino could be on Bill Belichick’s shortlist since they were the prominent assistants retained after Mayo succeeded the former Patriots head coach.
A front office member leaving for North Carolina would be interesting as Jones added that there could be further changes to the personnel staff after Eliot Wolf’s first season. The NFL insider noted Wolf didn’t get the job until May and only Alonzo Highsmith was added. This upcoming offseason will be the first full offseason Wolf gets with full control.

Regardless, it does seem like there will be changes to the coaching staff but which ones get fired or leave for Chapel Hill, N.C. is up in the air.
