One of the longest tenured Patriots assistants won’t be back on the New England sideline.

Mike Pellegrino, who’s been on the Patriots staff since 2015, won’t return under head coach Mike Vrabel staff, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Pellegrino served as the Patriots cornerbacks coach the last six seasons. Prior to that role, he worked as a football operations intern (2015) and coaching assistant under then-head coach Bill Belichick (2016-2018).

Pellegrino was one of the few retained after Jerod Mayo replaced Belichick last offseason.

He coached three All-Pro cornerbacks in Stephon Gilmore, J.C. Jackson and Christian Gonzalez. The cornerback room typically was one of New England’s strongest, which was the case during the underwhelming 2024 campaign.

Vrabel has made wholesale changes to his coaching staff since being hired Jan. 12. Special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer and special teams assistant Tom Quinn seem to be the lone carryovers, according to reports.
