The Red Sox are giving the kids a chance.

Boston added nine non-roster invitees to the team’s spring training roster on Tuesday: shortstop Marcelo Mayer; outfielder Roman Anthony; infielder/outfielders Kristian Campbell and Abraham Toro; catchers Nathan Hickey and Mark Kolozsvary; and pitchers Jovani Morán, Brian Van Belle, and Jacob Webb.

Mayer, Anthony and Campbell are expected to have an opportunity to earn a roster spot out of camp, with the latter being one of the top internal options to fill the void at second base.

Anthony is the top-rated position prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America.

The Red Sox previously announced that pitchers Austin Adams, Isaiah Campbell, Yovanny Cruz, Noah Davis, Michael Fulmer, Bryan Mata, Wyatt Mills, Sean Newcomb, Robert Stock, catcher Seby Zavala, and outfielder Nate Eaton would receive invites, as well.
