The Bruins paid tribute to Brad Marchand as he moves on to a new phase of his career.

Boston traded Marchand to the Florida Panthers on Friday as part of a franchise-altering NHL trade deadline. The B’s thanked its former captain for his 16 years wearing the Spoked B, and they released a video Saturday highlighting the best moments of his career.

Marchand was a key figure of the 2011 Stanley Cup team and helped guide the Bruins to two more Stanley Cup Final runs. The 36-year-old was a four-time All-Star in his Boston career and succeeded Patrice Begeron as team captain in the 2023-24 season.

The Bruins received a conditional pick from Florida in the Friday trade. The conditional second-round draft pick will become a 2027 or 2028 first-round draft pick if Florida wins two rounds of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs and Marchand appears in at least 50% of the team’s playoff games.

General manager Don Sweeney wanted to do right by Marchand and give the veteran a shot at winning another Stanley Cup. He’s still nursing an injury but is expected to play for the Panthers during their postseason run.
